Case-makers are already preparing themselves for this fall’s big iPhone refresh.
New images show updated case designs for an iPhone XS successor with a larger camera module. They line up with recent rumors that have claimed Apple’s next-generation flagships will have a third rear-facing camera sensor.
It’s a bad idea to start producing cases for a new iPhone before it’s officially confirmed. But it’s great if you can be one of the first to market with accessories for Apple’s latest devices.
It’s no surprise, then, that some case-makers are already designing new products that will accommodate rumored hardware changes.
2019 iPhone cases already in development
These images, published by Slashleaks, reveal some of the first renders of 2019 iPhone cases. They have a significantly larger cutout for a redesigned camera module with three lenses.
They are only renders — not actual products — so we shouldn’t read too much into them just yet. But based on recent rumors and claims made by reliable analysts, this is exactly the kind of protection you’ll need if you plan to buy a 2019 iPhone.
The likes of The Wall Street Journal and Ming-Chi Kuo have all promised a third camera sensor for this year’s iPhone refresh. Alongside the existing telephoto and wide-angle lenses, the new super-wide-angle lens is expected to deliver even more impressive panoramas and better performance in low light.
New iPhones expected this fall
It’s still unclear what Apple’s new iPhone lineup will be named. Some reports have suggested “iPhone XI” or “iPhone 11” for an iPhone XS successor, and “iPhone XE” for the new iPhone XR.
We’ll probably have to wait until the new lineup is made official this fall for confirmation of details like these. In the meantime, you can expect to see plenty more leaks like this one.
